Look for Captain Joe and Sons lobster company dock across the harbor from the Jodrey State Fish Pier in Gloucester and you may find 9EM who has been seen many times in that area.  Joey Ciaramitaro at Captain Joe and Sons has been keeping ‘Gulls of Appledore’ updated on 9EM’s appearances at the dock by the lobster company.

9EM was hatched summer 2016 on Appledore Island in Maine and was banded just before being able to fly on July 2, 2016.  One of 9EM’s parents has band 3AV.  9EM is a ‘hatch-year’ Great Black-backed Gull and we look forward to seeing the change in plumage over four years as 9EM transitions into a handsome white-headed adult Great Black-backed Gull.

The web site “Good Morning Gloucester” has information about Captain Joe and Sons lobster company and reports on other Appledore Gulls.  Thanks to Joey Ciaramitaro and all our friends who take the time to update us on sightings of banded gulls.
